"Grindelwald greets the mountains of the world"

Kongresssaal Grindelwald, Grindelwald

In October 2025, Grindelwald celebrates Hans Jossi's 8000-meter pictures with an exhibition and multimedia show by Hans Kammerlander.

An event week in Grindelwald with great appeal; from October 11 to 18, 2025.
Grindelwald proudly and respectfully greets "the mountains of the world" in October 2025.
In keeping with the rich tradition of mountain guiding and the deep-rooted attachment of the population to the mountains and cultural traditions, Grindelwald is the perfect place for the exhibition and appreciation of the unique works of the painter Hans Jossi.

Hans Jossi has family roots in Grindelwald (his grandfather was the mountain guide Christen Egger 1887 - 1959).
He has painted all fourteen 8000-meter mountains in large format (120 x 100 cm) and small format (20 x 15 cm) in oil.
He recorded his history and works in a book. The publication of the book, his work and the unique 8000-metre paintings will be exhibited and celebrated in Grindelwald as part of an event week.

The special feature: Hans Jossi has not reproduced the mountain images from photos,
but traveled to the Karakorum and Himalayas himself and sketched and painted the mountains there.
Various side events will take place during the exhibition week. The crowning finale is the multimedia show by high-altitude mountaineer Hans Kammerlander, who has climbed all fourteen 8000-metre peaks. As well as highlighting Grindelwald as a mountain village, the event is also intended to put the spotlight on mountain painting, which has a firm tradition in Grindelwald with the Emil & Ida Sutter Foundation and the headquarters of the Guild of Swiss Mountain Painters.
