Strong presence in Solothurn

The Solothurn Film Festival is the showcase of the Swiss film industry. This year, it will feature 19 films that have been supported by Migros Culture Percentage in one way or another. «Farid» by Pino Esposito (picture) will make its world première at the event. The film portrays the Palestinian writer Farid Dhamrah, who is being threatened with deportation. «Boys Are Us» by Peter Luisi along with «Halb so wild» by Jeshua Dreyfus will be making their Swiss premières, and the documentaries «Paul Bowles. The Cage Door Is Always Open» about the cult author Paul Bowles, «Harry Dean Stanton: Partly Fiction» by Sophie Huber and the tennis documentary «Jan» will be shown in Solothurn for the first time. Visitors will also have the chance to catch «Hiver nomade», winner of the European Film Award in the «Best Documentary» category, «Forbidden Voices» by Barbara Müller, «Vibrato» by Jacqueline Veuve, «Tutti giù» by Niccolò Castelli, «Das Gehörlosendorf» by Dieter Gränicher, «Amore carne» by Pippo Delbono, «Image Problem» by Simon Baumann and Andreas Pfiffner, «Virgin Tales» by Mirjam von Arx, as well as the short films «Un mundo para Raul» by Mauro Müller, «La nuit de l'ours» by Sam and Fred Guillaume, «Prora» by Stéphane Riethauser and «Roter Schnee» by Luka Popadic.

The 48th Solothurn Film Festival will take place from 24 to 31 January.
