A shipping container in the middle of the village square? A (beautiful?!) reality in Central Swiss communities! Experimental music is delivered: the Lucerne band The Great Harry Hillman converts the container into a mobile miniature club. The four musicians use it to travel to various locations in the cantons of Lucerne, Obwalden and Nidwalden.
Their concerts oscillate between the lyrical, the surreal and the brute. This hypnotic trip is created in real time, in fleeting scenes of free improvisation and existing musical sketches. On board is artist Olivia Abächerli, who will perform on the inside walls of the container during the concerts. The outside walls will feature legendary tape art by artist Niklaus Troxler.
The project "The Great Harry Hillman - Cargo Tour" is part of the Albert Koechlin Foundation's cultural project "schön?!", which supports cultural initiatives that shed new light on the question of aesthetics and perception in spring 2025. As an artistic object, the container stands in the field of tension between the global and the cultural landscapes it traverses.
