On the trail of a masterpiece: the Moutier-Grandval Bible returns to the Jura from 8 March to 8 June 2025.

The Moutier-Grandval is a document of outstanding beauty and rarity – it’s one of the oldest fully preserved illustrated bibles in the world.
Transcribed by 20 or so copyist monks in the 9th century and decorated with sumptuous illuminations, this masterpiece from the Middle Ages has been on a journey – often perilous, sometimes secret, but always extraordinary – that we want to share with you today.
The book's arrival presents the perfect opportunity to admire other key works – including Carolingian manuscripts lent by several Swiss institutions.

A unique moment accompanied by a host of companion events, including an international symposium organised by Mémoires d’Ici on 10 May 2025.

Getting here on foot: the museum is 15 minutes’ walk from the Delémont SBB train station.
Getting here by train: Delémont is 30 minutes from Basel and Biel/Bienne, and 1 hour from Bern and Neuchâtel.
Getting here by car: free parking is available in the "Gros Pré" car park, which is 5 minutes’ walk from the museum. Paid parking is available in the Place de l'Étang car park, which is 6 minutes’ walk from the museum. There are also metered parking spaces opposite the museum.
